Let Go of the Pressure to be Everything to Everyone, All The Time:

Supportive Individual Therapy for Adults & Teens Wanting to Manage Anxiety, Lessen their Perfectionism, Improve their Relationships, and (Re)Connect with Living a Life of Meaning.

Dr. Allie is a Licensed California Psychologist

We live in a world of “work hard first, take care of yourself later”.

In such a world, we often find ourselves worrying about life in the future, getting pulled into the virtual world full of comparison, or reliving painful or embarrassing past events.

All of which distract us from awareness of our present… and yet, everything we do happens in the here and now.

Sometimes this fast-paced world can make us feel exhausted, overwhelmed, and like we just aren’t good enough. It’s easy to get caught up in online comparison with peers and people we don’t even know. We flood ourselves daily with images of “success” at particular life stages and then subconsciously buy into, what I call, “The Timeline Myth,” where we believe that we should be meeting particular life milestones at certain ages and then feel disappointed, embarrassed, or ashamed about our life panning out differently than expected or “planned”.

Whether you are a teenager feeling the pressure of college acceptances (or dreaming of a life path that doesn’t involve college), a college student worrying about making the “right” decision for your career while stressing about your class courses/grades and relationship status, a person in their mid-thirties navigating burnout and struggling with work-life balance, a person going through a significant life change (like divorce or career shifts) trying to manage relationships, work, and “self-care” (whatever that means!), or a person nearing their later life years reflecting on values, relationships, and how you’ve lived…. Therapy with Dr. Allie is a reminder to slow down and share your life experiences, explore your thoughts, get familiar with your feelings, and examine your actions and interactions with others, as a means of (re)connecting with yourself and others. While the outside world is busy telling you who you “should” be and what you “should” care about, I’ll remind you that you deserve to take time to explore the values that matter most to you.

My goal is to support, encourage, and challenge you to live the life you want to lead and improve your relationships with others, starting with yourself. I believe you are capable of finding purpose and enjoyment in your day-to-day activities and learning to rest and play, without guilt. You are worth investing your time and energy into learning how to foster meaningful relationships with others and engage in self-love and self-care practices that actually work for you. Life doesn’t have to be as hard as we sometimes make it.

I never judge my clients, but instead seek to understand them from a place of acceptance. Working with clients from a variety of ages and cultural backgrounds has made me the therapist I am today.

I specialize in working with adults and teens as they navigate anxiety, perfectionism, self-worth, relationship and communication issues, grief and loss, and transitions during various life stages (such as navigating early adulthood, figuring out one’s priorities and life-balance in one’s thirties, managing mid-life crisis, taking care of oneself through divorce, or accepting the changes that come with aging).

I look forward to helping you meet a more grounded, playful, and equally engaged version of yourself!

Dr Allison Meins California Anxiety Psychologist Headshot

Often referred to as Dr. Allie. (My last name is pronounced like “mines”.)

I’m a Licensed Psychologist with a telehealth private practice, based in Roseville, CA. The benefits of a telehealth practice are that I can work with you so long as you are located within the California state border.

I’m a proud first generation college graduate with a down to earth approach for connecting with others and support people in their desire to make the most of their lives. My therapeutic approach is collaborative, inclusive, and playful. A great day of therapy to me is one that is filled with laughter, crying, anger, and smiles. My Approach

I’ll meet you where you are and walk alongside you until you get to where you’re going.

Perhaps you’ve noticed feeling exhausted, on edge, or had difficulties concentrating and want to understand why,

Maybe you’re ready to explore your wants, needs, passions, and opinions that are separate from those who raise(d) you,

It could be that you’re noticing intense pressure you put on yourself to do things the “right way” or making the “best” decision,

Maybe you’re making sense of this ‘adulting’ business at any stage and trying to juggle everything for everyone, all the time,

Perhaps you’ve been feeling disconnected from yourself and others,

Or you might be going through a challenging change (loss of a loved one, divorce, job change or uncertainty, retirement, change as we age)...

If you are seeking support with the many questions and decisions that accompany these periods of growth, I’m here to sit with you, support you, and guide you as you wrestle with making sense of it all.

I always start by having you share your story with me. Storytelling is art-form that allows us to reflect and make sense of ourselves, others, and the world around us. We’ll explore your unique experiences from your family, cultural, and chronological backgrounds. Then, we’ll set goals together that reflect your personal experiences and interests. We’ll explore the interaction between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors so we can identify where to try something new and how to create your desired outcomes in your relationships, career, and recreation. We’ll explore who you are today, how you got here, and where you are going, while making space for acceptance as change occurs. By exploring your values and taking time to build on your strengths, my hope is that you can reclaim your motivation and lead a life of meaning and fulfillment.

Self-love, acceptance, understanding, and growth can begin (or continue) in this warm and inviting space, free of cultural and societal expectation. With me, you can show up just as you are.

I’m looking forward to meeting you!

Are you ready to reduce the pressure you’re feeling to be everything to everyone, all the time?

What else do you want to know?

The journey to finding the right therapist for you can be challenging.

I want to recognize that by being here today, you are putting yourself on the path towards healing.

How can I support you on your journey?
