Individual Therapy for Anxiety

“I feel like there is a buzzing coursing through my veins.”

“I can’t turn my brain off… ever. The thoughts just keep coming.”

“I feel exhausted all the time.”

“I keep forgetting about things that mean a lot to me.”

Life is hectic and fast-paced. You’ve got a lot going on - and it probably feels like you don’t have enough time to do it all. It doesn’t help that you’re often comparing yourself to others in your personal life or on social media. Maybe you juggle various roles in your personal life and at work. Perhaps you hold yourself to really high standards and expect to always know what’s “right” in an ever-changing, uncertain world. Maybe you feel like you are constantly twisting and contorting yourself to meet the needs of others at the expense of meeting your own needs. Life can feel like you’re juggling too many things and bound to drop something at any moment. You might notice that you’re always assuming the worst, procrastinating because you’re paralyzed by the thought of failing, or getting stuck on what you “just know” someone is thinking about you (in a negative light, of course).

Normal amounts of situational stress can become long-lasting anxiety when it consistently impacts your ability to sleep at night, makes it difficult to complete tasks from beginning to end, makes it hard to to focus for longer than a few minutes, and challenges your ability to view problems realistically. Anxiety can also be accompanied by feelings of irritability, muscle tension, and restlessness.

I believe in magic, but I don’t possess magical powers. While I don’t have the power to slow the pace of time - I can help you find ways to take the breath and break you are longing for. Together, we will explore the possible origins of your anxiety and set goals for managing your daily stressors.

We will work together to get you to a place where you can consistently engage in the activities that have meaning for you so that you don’t look back and wonder how you could have done things differently. My hope is that you will begin living your life without inhibition. Here’s to beginning the walk down a new path… don’t worry, I’ll be right here with you.

Individual Therapy for Depression

“I never want to get out of bed.”

“What is the meaning of life?”

“I never do the things I enjoy anymore.”

“I hate the way I speak to myself.”

I hear you. These thoughts and comments are frequently made by people feeling down or depressed.  Depression can look like feeling stuck or paralyzed in a moment, a memory, or a “loop”. Depression can look like having trouble getting out of bed, or functioning mostly “fine” in your daily life but feeling like you're floating through an endless fog while going about your daily activities. Things can get pretty fuzzy and overwhelming in that fog. Depression sometimes includes frequent feelings of sadness, no longer finding joy in your interests, difficulties with your sleep routine, eating habits, and exercise, increased fatigue, difficulties focusing, excessive feelings of guilt or worthlessness, and sometimes thoughts of death or self-harm.

When you experience depressive symptoms, it ultimately makes taking care of yourself and others really. freaking. hard.

Life and the feelings that fill us can be messy. And I’m here for that. Therapy can be a space to let it all out without fear of judgment and embrace the mess…

Together, we will collaboratively set goals, explore your values, find ways to reconnect with your meaning, and ultimately live that fulfilling life that you want and deserve. I want to see you joining your friends for adventures again, feeling confident in yourself and your choices, achieving your hopes and dreams, playing your instrument or creating your art again, and letting go of that which doesn’t serve you.

What you get out of your therapeutic journey will come from what you put into the therapeutic work. While I am passionate about the work we will do together and witnessing your growth, change is ultimately for you. My hope is that you will enter therapy with a curious mind, find meaning in the therapeutic process, and implement changes that will have a lasting impact for a life of fulfillment.
